This course forms part of the annual requirements for those working within health and social care settings where people moving is part of their role. The course looks at the legal requirements of employers and employees, managing risks and performing safe moving and handling practices.
Understand Health and Safety legislation and regulations relating to Moving and positioning of people
Understand Person Centred Legislation, regulations and policies/procedures/codes of practice
Understand musculoskeletal injuries and the spine
Understand principles of lifting including centre of gravity, base of support, position of power and biomechanics
Be able to Identify controversial techniques and shoulder injury prevention
Understand patient/service user/clients skin
Be able to use equipment and correct moving and positioning techniques
