Course Overview

Delivered over a full day, this comprehensive course equips learners to:

• Administer oxygen and analgesic agents (such as Entonox) legally and safely
• Perform essential pre-use checks on medical gas equipment
• Monitor and record a patient’s response to medical gases
• Understand the indications, contraindications, and precautions for emergency medical gas use
• Store and handle gas cylinders in accordance with safety regulations
• Apply best practices during emergency situations in community and field-based care

The course includes hands-on, scenario-based training aligned with real-life emergency care situations.

Entry Requirements

To enrol, learners must:

• Be at least 16 years old on the first day of training
• Have successfully completed a Level 3 First Aid at Work (QCF/RQF) qualification or QA-recognised equivalent
• Be familiar with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) if not covered in their FAW course

A basic understanding of first aid and a minimum of Level 2 literacy is recommended to support successful learning.
