During this 2-day practical course, learners will gain the knowledge and confidence to provide life-saving care to babies and children in a wide range of first aid emergencies.

Topics Covered Include:

• The role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider

• Assessing an emergency situation

• Managing an unresponsive infant or child

• Paediatric CPR and safe use of AED

• Choking and airway obstruction

• External bleeding and shock

• Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains

• Head, neck, and spinal injuries

• Bites, stings, burns, scalds and electric shock

• Recognising and responding to serious illnesses

• Febrile convulsions, meningitis and allergic reactions

• Eye injuries, diabetes, asthma and sickle cell crisis

• Caring for a child who is having a seizure

• Accident reporting and hygiene in a first aid situation

Course Details

• Duration: 2 Days

• Assessment: Practical and theoretical assessments throughout the course

• Certification: Valid for 3 years (Qualsafe-regulated, EYFS/OFSTED recognised)

This course meets the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is suitable for inclusion in your OFSTED inspection evidence.
